Set in a Humphry Repton landscape the garden at Rode is best known for the snowdrops in February. From April onwards the ‘wild garden’ is ablaze with fine rhododendrons and azaleas with a ground cover of bluebells, daffodils and lily of the valley. The formal garden, designed by William Nesfield in 1860, is at its best from the beginning of June when the large walled kitchen garden is a feature, also, with an abundance of vegetables,
fruit and flowers including world record gooseberries. The Hall, which
contains a fine collection of furniture and porcelain, is open on Wednesdays and Bank Holiday Mondays during the summer.
